How do you interpret a correlation coefficient of 0.5?

A correlation coefficient of 0.5 indicates a moderate positive relationship between the two variables being analyzed. This means that, on average, as one variable increases, the other variable also tends to increase, but not perfectly. While there is a tendency for the two variables to move together, there is still a significant amount of variation that is not explained by this correlation. In practical terms, a correlation of 0.5 suggests that the variables are somewhat related, but other factors may also influence their relationship, and it is not strong enough to rely on for precise predictions.

Correlation coefficients whose magnitude are between 0.5 and 0.7 indicate variables which can be considered moderately correlated. Correlation coefficients whose magnitude are between 0.3 and 0.5 indicate variables which have a low correlation.
