Spearman's rank correlation is a non-parametric measure of the strength and direction of association between two ranked variables. Unlike Pearson's correlation, which assesses linear relationships and assumes that the data are normally distributed, Spearman's correlation evaluates how well the relationship between two variables can be described by a monotonic function. This means it can capture relationships that are not necessarily linear.

Spearman's rank correlation measures the strength and direction of association between two ranked variables. This makes the Spearman correlation great for 3, 5, and 7-point likert scale questions or ordinal survey questions.
