To calculate the coefficient of variation (CV) in Excel:

  1. Find the mean using =AVERAGE(range).
  2. Find the standard deviation using =STDEV.P(range) (or STDEV.S(range) for a sample).
  3. Divide the standard deviation by the mean and multiply by 100:
    =(STDEV.P(range)/AVERAGE(range))*100.

This gives you the CV as a percentage.
