Mean
The mean, often referred to as the arithmetic mean, is a fundamental measure of central tendency. It is calculated by summing all the values in a dataset and dividing by the number of values. This provides a single value that represents the average of the data, summarizing its central point. In cases where data is grouped, the sample mean can be computed by using class intervals and frequencies. Additionally, the presentation covers variations of the mean, including the weighted mean, which accounts for the relative importance of each data point, the geometric mean, useful for multiplicative processes or rates of change, and the combined mean, which merges multiple datasets into a single mean value.
